Breakdown of cast, props, setting, location report for my magazine

Cast
Danni Cairns - Front cover, Contents page, Double page spread
I chose her to model as she is around the age of my target audience so they could relate to her.

Props
I didn't use any additional props apart from jewelry as there wasn't anything I felt would suite the model and who she was trying to be.

Setting
I took my photos in a room with a white wall. This is because I knew I wanted a white background on each page and I also thought it would be easier to crop Danni out when she's against white.

Mood Board For My Magazine's Target Audience

I created a mood board showing the type of audience I am targeting to buy my magazine. This mood board shows it is for a younger audience, between 12-16 and mainly girls. You can see this from the colour purple being part of it and the 'teen heart throbs' Justin Bieber, Zac Efron, The WANTED and Cody Simpson being featured in the mood board. There is also things that would appeal to my target audience, things that they can relate to e.g. hair straighteners, make up, clothes, social websites, music and TV programmes. I have also included singing and performing in my mood board to suggest hobbies my audience may be into.

Analysis of Top of the Pops front cover

Top of the Pops is a music and gossip magazine mostly aimed at young teenage girls. The magazine features chart information, star gossip, fashion and beauty advice, quizzes, song lyrics and posters. It is thought to be an alternative to the TV show ‘Top of the Pops’. This magazine is considered the missing link between Smash Hits and NME, but the format has gradually changed to be less music and more the interests of young girls. You can see the magazine is mostly aimed girls by the colours used. On almost every magazine cover you can expect to see at least one bit of pink. Straight away this suggests the magazine is aimed at a female audience. The swirly patterns also relate to young girls. They resemble the shapes that would be doodled on the diary of a teenage girl. The top boy bands are featured on the front cover along with the current ‘heart throbs’ of young girls, hence why their images are littered across the front page. The price of the magazine also reflects that it is for a younger audience. It is normally only £2.25 which is cheap enough for a young audience to buy with their own pocket money. The price is cheap in comparison to magazines aimed at older audiences such as Kerrang. I think the target audience’s social status would be about B/C1. This is because they must have enough money to get pocket money from their parents. Pop music covers quite a vast genre of music categories such as R&B. This is why artists such a Rihanna have featured on the front cover. This suggests a variety of artists are featured in the magazine ranging from pop artists like Justin Bieber to hip hop artists like Chris Brown. This shows the magazine has a broad target audience of young girls who listen to different genres of music.

Questionnaire Evaluation

So I could create a college magazine that students would want to buy/read, I designed a questionnaire to find out what they want. I found out over 50% of the students surveyed don’t read the magazine. The reason for this is because they find it boring. The students surveyed chose the following headings as the main topics for the magazine: sports, music, college events and jobs.
Some students also said fashion and ‘student gossip’ should be included.
50% surveyed said they would pay around 50 pence for the magazine.
Most students said they want the magazine to be published fortnightly. 100% of students said they want the magazine to be in an informal format. This is so they feel they can relate to it.

College Magazine

Preliminary Task Evaluation
For my preliminary task I had to design the front cover and contents page to a college magazine that would appeal to students and included everything they would want to see. To find out what they wanted I first made a questionnaire with questions such as: do you read the college magazine & why? What would you like to see in the magazine and how much would you pay etc. after I gathered my results I thought of a design that would attract the students to buying and reading it.
On the front cover I had each topic that the students wanted in the magazine. I put these in the distinct east Norfolk colours; blue and orange. This is so the students would see it was for their college and feel they can relate to what is inside.
The model on the front cover is in a mid shot holding folders and smiling. She holding the folders to show the college is hard working and focused but she is smiling to show it is fun at the same time.
I named my magazine ‘ENORF’ as it is a magazine for East Norfolk and this is the abbreviated version of the words.
The stars or flashes around the headings of what is in the magazine draws you in and makes you read it.
For my contents page I stuck to the East Norfolk colours. I also added a ‘note from editor’ as while researching I noticed most other magazines include this.

Justin Bieber My World 2.0/My Worlds album review

Top Of The Pops

On March 23rd 2010 Justin Bieber released his second album, the follow up from My World, ‘My World 2.0’ or 'My Worlds.' With a lot more songs added and a bonus track it was sure to fly off the shelves. The album includes the song ‘Baby’ ft. Ludacris which is already very popular with Bieber fans and many others. With an upbeat tempo and Justin sounding great, this is definitely one of our favourites as well as yours. The song ‘U Smile’ was written by Justin for his fans – which we think is pretty cute! The rest of the album has songs that any fan of Justin’s music will love! Tracks ft. various artists like; Sean Kingston and Jessica Jarrell will also help boots this album to the top of the charts! If you couldn’t tell already, we LOVED Justin’s new ‘My World 2.0 album,’ and we really recommend buying it and listening for yourself!

The Times

Justin Bieber, a 16 year old pop singer from Canada, has just released his second album, ‘My World 2.0’ or 'My Worlds.' This album contains 18 tracks all together including a bonus track. Many songs on the album are pleasantly delightful. We are sure they would appeal to a younger audience and quite possibly to an older one also. One of the tracks called ‘Baby’ featuring Ludacris is already a hit with the younger generation. Although Bieber’s music is not specifically aimed at older people, we feel some song have a rather sophisticated way about them. We highly recommend purchasing this album and experiencing some of his finest work for yourselves.
